The National Monument, which depicts a group of soldiers holding the Malaysian flag, has been deemed unIslamic.KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 — Warrior’s Day on Saturday will be commemorated at Merdeka Square in the federal capital for the first time this year with no laying of wreaths or observing a minute of silence.

This weekend’s celebration has been adjusted to be in line with several religious rulings or fatwa made by the National Fatwa Council.

The change of venue was also consistent with the views of the council, which declared the previous venue, the National Monument, unIslamic.

The National Monument, which depicts a group of soldiers holding the Malaysian flag, was built in the 1960s to commemorate those who died during the Japanese Occupation and the Malayan Emergency.

The monument was bombed by the members of the Malayan Communist Party in 1975, resulting in serious damage but was later restored to its original condition.

According to a 1995 religious ruling, the playing of “The Last Post” and “The Rouse”, observing one minute’s silence with heads bowed, laying of wreaths, reading of poetry and singing before a sculptured monument are in conflict with Islamic teachings.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin are expected to attend the event on Saturday, according to the schedule issued by the Ministry of Defence.

However, “The Last Post” and “The Rouse”, two military tunes described as unIslamic by the federal Islamic authorities, would continue to be played.

There would also be poetry recital followed by the reading of patriotic stories and recital of Islamic prayers.

The celebration ends after the King receives the royal salute from a guard of honour.

Special prayers would also be held at the National Mosque the night before the celebration at Merdeka Square.

The decision to stop what the government believes to be unIslamic practices at the National Monument was first announced jointly by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Islamic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom last March.

A new square will also be built in Putrajaya as the new venue to celebrate Warrior’s Day.

“We have asked for the changes for a long time, I am glad they are finally listening,” said Perak Mufti Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria, who sits on the National Fatwa Council.

“The fatwa is not new. But no prime minister was brave enough to follow it. I am glad Najib had the courage to change the practice,” he told The Malaysian Insider.

Datuk Seri Najib Razak attended his first Warrior’s Day celebration as prime minister last year at the National Monument where he led some Cabinet members and senior officers of the armed forces and the police in laying wreaths at the bronze statue.

“It’s a white men’s tradition. Why should we maintain them? We can do it in our own way,” said Harussani.

Meanwhile, the president of the association of former servicemen, Datuk Muhammad Abdul Ghani, said the changes in the Warrior’s Day celebration would attract more members of the public to attend.

“Whether it was Islamic or not I do not know, but personally I was not worshipping the monument but only remembering our friends who died,” he said.

Muhammad added that having the commemoration in Merdeka Square would increase public awareness of Warrior’s Day.

“It is as important as National Day. But the crowd won’t be that big, but because it is held in Merdeka Square, more people will turn up,” he said.

“We just follow the government’s decision, it does not matter how it is commemorated as long as the day is remembered,” said Muhammad.

The multi racial soldiers of various religious or non-religious beliefs did not fight and die for Islam but for the country.
The laying of wreaths and maintaining a minute of silence was never regarded as religious practices but as acts of remembrance, respect and honour for their sacrifices.
The celebration of the Warriors’ Day that must be in accordance to Islam is an insult to the descendants of those soldiers who are not Muslims.

The Mufti of Perak is Ilmanist idiot.

The Islamic authorities are merely confirming the supremacist nature of Islam:

Qur'an 9:33 "It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the Religion of Truth (Islam) to make it superior over all religions, even though the disbelievers detest (it)."

While the Malaysian government may declare how great is Islam to create a just and fair society for their non-Muslim citizens, they are either in cognitive dissonance or willfully insulting the citizens' intelligence.
